Reason for objection:
Objection.
This flatted block occupies a prominent position in the CA, being one of a group of six that front directly onto Canbury Gardens & the River Thames beyond. But none of the other blocks in this group have been re-developed in the manner proposed by this PA.
This scheme would, in our view, disrupt the rhythm & symmetry of the existing run of properties. In particular, the proposed extended 1st floor balcony & glass enclosure would intrude unacceptably on the existing landscape & cause harm to the character & appearance of the CA.
Furthermore, the applicant concedes in their planning statement that the proposed cantilever design of the two new balconies has yet to be resolved by their structural engineers & consequently the impact of these proposals on the existing structure/ appearance of the building remains unclear.
