Reason for objection:

SCAAC has no objection to the rear extension in principle but strongly objects in principle to the changes to the facades of the existing building in particular the front of the property. We don't believe that the change from the brick/tile to weatherboarding or from a tile to a slate roof justified and is not in keeping with the CA. The precedents illustrated do not relate to any other building found in Southborough and those showing timber boarding are not comparable at all with the proposed use of timber. The visual character of the existing property should be retained and the roof materials should be re-used, not only to retain the appropriate appearance within the CA, but also for reasons of sustainability. There is insufficient information on construction of pool house to comment on its suitability or impact on the CA.
