Reason for objection:
Objection: although the proposed extension would be a relatively small cuboid structure, ‘shoe-horning’ it in against the southern boundary of the host property is unsatisfactory aesthetically, when viewed both from the Richmond Road & Bank Lane.
Timber cladding in this context is suitable for an independent structure in the garden as it is reminiscent of a shed or garage. To say it will 'harmonise with the current aesthetic of the existing brick wall and garden fencing' and then choose to be ' in keeping with the adjacent timber garden fences' seems the wrong choice.
Clearly attached, it should match the house, ie red brick with detailing and coursing to match the main house OR if it is meant to look part of the fence, then the junction between the two contrasting materials, thought out better. The current junction is clumsy- whether brick or timber. The language of the house is pitched roofs, hips and gables not flat. This can be OK when in a rear garden out of sight, but not in plain sight.
It would also block the line of sight of traffic approaching Richmond Road from Bank Lane.
