Objection

The Kingston upon Thames Society objects to this application on design grounds.
We had a useful discussion last January 30th about the whole scheme with the architects and their agents.The proposed “units” are intended for single occupation, which is fine but having examined the actual floor plans in some detail, the physical area which single occupants would rent is incredibly small & could lead the single residents becoming severely claustrophobic or lonely .No wonder that there is a very large kitchen for them to use with other areas to use as socialising spaces.
The Society rarely gets involved in the internal layouts of new developments but in this case we feel that we must object because the planning of the building is based upon a false premise.
Finally at the consultation meeting in January I voiced my concern that the corner of the building which faces towards Clarence Street is a weak design and could be considerably improved by making it a bold positive feature. Sadly no further consideration has been given to this suggestion.by the applicants.
