We agree that the existing rear extension of this property can be improved upon. That said, we find the stepped profile of the new, enlarged rear extension, eg when viewed from the south, to be out of character with the existing property & architectural typology of its neighbours. It would be clearly visible from the public highway &, in our view, conflict with the character & appearance of the CA. Furthermore, we find the proposed materials palette over-elaborate & confusing, comprising brickwork, stone, timber (+ aluminium fenestration) finishes.
We recommend that the profile of the proposed rear extension is simplified, more akin to the smoother outline of the existing extension. In addition, we recommend that the range of materials is reduced eg to comprise brickwork throughout (+ aluminium or timber fenestration).
