Reason for objection:

Boundary: The proposed development extends the property laterally to the boundary with St Raphaels Church. The Church is a grade 2 listed building, a unique example of Victorian Italianate architecture and a prominent landmark facing the river. The side extension of 22 Portsmouth Road would be detrimental to the setting and integrity of the Church and the street scene.

Overdevelopment and lack of symmetry: 22 Portsmouth Rd is one of a pair of identical semi-detached houses. The proposed extension removes the symmetry of the building. Extension to the side represents overdevelopment. The large site gives plenty of scope for development at the rear which would not impact on the church or street scene.
