Reason for objection:

Objection.

This application proposes a rebuild of the existing bungalow into a much larger family home when we believe efforts should be made to preserve at least some, if not all, of the character & appearance of the original property, which is both charming & in excellent condition. Indeed, the existing dwelling is typical of the single storey waterside chalet-style homes on Trowlock Island directly opposite this much-loved/ used stretch of the River Thames & contributes to the CA’s tranquil appeal.

Yet the proposed rebuild is of excessive bulk & will harm numerous views of the River. In addition, its poor design - bland & unoriginal - would not enhance the architectural typology of the area or yield any public benefits. In addition the planned materials are inappropriate to the character of the area.

Furthermore, this application should be refused to stop over-development ongoing elsewhere in this sensitive part of the CA. In particular, 114 Lower Ham Road nearby was granted permission (despite our objections) for an uncompromisingly modern 3 storey town house which is now nearing completion & there is a PA pending on 109 Lower Ham Road next door to the applicant property for an even more excessive re-build. Cumulatively these developments demean the character & appearance of the CA & must be rejected.

PS The DAS for this application is incomplete - it contains no narrative.
